On the morning of April 2, the preparation workshop of the XVIII International Congress for Mine Surveying (the congress) was held through a combination of online and offline. More than 50 Chinese experts in mine surveying attended the conference. The meeting was held at the School of Environment and Spatial Informatics, China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT), and Prof. Zheng Nanshan, the Dean of the school, chaired the meeting.
Prof. Zhengfu Bian, Vice President of CUMT, attended the conference and delivered a speech. On the behalf of CUMT, he warmly welcomed all the experts attending the conference, and he expressed thanks for their long-term support for the international mine surveying scientific research, personnel training, and the development of CUMT. He said it is a big and happy event in Chinese mine surveying community that China is the host country of the congress. This highlights China's international influence and good reputation in international mine surveying community. CUMT, as the organizer of the congress, sincerely hopes that relevant universities and units in China can participate more fully in the conference organization process, share their advantageous resources, and play leading roles.
Prof. Leting Huang, President of the International Society for Mine surveying (ISM), introduced the progress of the congress organization. The congress will be held in Xuzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai, China, on October 26-29, 2023, which is held in China again after 19 years. The theme of the congress is "Smart Mapping and Surveying, Green Mine". It is co-organized by the ISM, the China Coal Society, and the Chinese Society for Geodesy Photogrammetry and Cartography, and organized by CUMT. He hoped all the participants could share and build the congress, making it a high-level international mine surveying congress with big international-influence.
